Best Natural Hair Care Brands

Unless you’re making your own products in your kitchen, you’re unlikely to find 100% natural hair products. The good thing is, brands are working towards are more natural future by eliminating ingredients that are harmful for both people and the environment—that’s the very theory behind “clean beauty.” Those ingredients include parabens, formaldehyde, sulfates SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and SLES (sodium lauryl ethoxil sulfacte) , synthetic fragrances, oxybenzone, and even mineral oils—all nasty things that almost all of the typical shampoos, conditioners, or stylers have inside them. Eliminating certain ingredients it the first step to using products that are more natural. One recent study from University of California, Berkeley, shows that short breaks from shampoos with chemical ingredients can result in a significant drop in levels of people’s hormone-disrupting chemicals.

One natural ingredient you can look for in hair products i skeratin. According to a recent study in the journal Archives of Plastic Surgery, a combination of the keratin extracts Silk extracts and Honeyquat are proven to stimulate hair-growth-creating strength and shine. Options from the all-natural, handmade cosmetics brand Organic Body Shop are already available in the form of shampoos (Organic is even a solid bar to eliminate plastic packaging-but they only use recyclable packaging) such as the Prevent thickening shampoo for thinning, helping to prevent hair loss, and Organic  volume shampoo  and the Protect spf 15 Shampoo for colored and dry hair..

If in doubt, look for highly concentrated products rich in plant-based oils rather than synthetics. Or, you can buy the ingredient, such as coconut oil, directly from your local grocery store and use it to be 100 percent natural. Some people swear by coconut oil for damaged hair. Be careful as it can clog scalp pours increasing change of hair loss. Organic body shop makes a natural solution with coconut oil ,essential oils & castor oil. Aloe Vera makes an affordable anti-frizz hair care  using aloe vera and glycerin as a humectant that draws moisture to your hair to keep it balanced. Better than synthetic silicone, sunflower oil and olive oil are two other natural ingredients that impart shine and tame frizz both of which can be found in product lines like the organic  body shop. Look for items containing Tamanu Oil, which has antibacterial and antioxidant properties is said to promote hair growth and cure dandruff (try Organic Body Shop Tea tree hair products). Honeyquat is known to cure allergies and it also works wonders on your hair: it’s ultra-hydrating and can alleviate an itchy scalp during the winter (Organic Hair Repair is a dreamy and potent blend of honey, sunflower oil and fair trade cocoa butter). The unexpected herb Sage is also a great alternative to synthetic ingredients. It promotes hair growth and can replace Rogaine—Organic Body Shop Prevent is a classic.

‘Organic’ and ‘Natural’: What’s the Difference?

It’s no surprise that the organic skin care beauty market has exploded. Over the years, people have become more aware of what’s inside their skin care products and have begun to make better decisions about what they allow on their skin.

As a result, hundreds of new skin care products have crafted by a scientist to meet this new demand for safe, natural beauty products.

Along with this growth also came a flood of natural beauty claims—creating a sort of Wild West of marketing jargon, promises, and misinformation.

To help provide a little more transparency (and because we’re obsessed with skin care products). First, let’s be clear about what the terms “organic” and “natural” actually mean. Organic refers to something that was food  produced without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), sewage, ionizing radiation, in the case of food and meat products as well as antibiotics and growth hormones.

Natural means something that originally “existed in” or was “derived from” nature. Additionally, if something is “certified organic” or “certified natural,” applies mostly to the food industry.

Natural or organic Skincare while meant only to be a topical application. The certification is very expensive and optional to the company and not required at this time in Canada. Each certification has their own specific certifying agency defines those terms. If a company buy pre-certified ingredients and has those certificate-each certifying agency believes if you open that certified bag of ingredient no it is not certified? What do you think of that? Very confusing indeed! Then the certifying body will charge the company a hefty sum to come in to the facility and look at how you make the product and decide if you are still organic. Then you can use their logo. Thier is no

Here is the situation concerning the organic certification of non-food products in Canada:

  • The Canadian Organic Standard and Regulations only apply to food products.
  • Non-food products (cosmetics)  are outside the scope of the Canadian Organic Regime (COR) and therefore are not required to be certified.
  • Non-certified body care products can be called “organic” but cannot make any reference to certification even if the ingredients used in the

product are certified organic.

Cosmetics can enhance their look, but certain ingredients found in beauty products can cause irritation to sensitive eyes and present dangers to overall eye health. Some of these include color additives, parabens, fragrances, talc, sulfates, preservatives, bismuth oxychloride, and fragrances.

Many makeup brands today, however, have taken extra steps to create quality products without adding damaging ingredients.

Choosing the Body Skin Care for You

The best all-over body lotions and creams feel light, silky and greaseless.
More intense creams and ointments for severely dry skin (such as cracked heels) may feel greasier due to their higher beeswax, or essential oil  content, but are still easy to spread and shouldn’t feel sticky.
How dry is your skin? If your skin isn’t very dry, all you need is a good everyday body lotion or cream (see our Body Lotion section for the top picks). If your skin is really parched, or for severe problem areas such as cracked heels, you’ll need a more heavy-duty cream or ointment (see our section on Lotions for Very Dry Skin).
The market has many natiral remedy products and antifungal salves.

“Because we are dealing with cosmetic products—not drugs—it’s difficult to know what each patient is actually putting on her skin and how she’s likely to respond to it,Therefore, patients with sensitive skin or known allergies to botanical ingredients may need to be extra cautious when using an oil. As a reminder: Just because something is natural doesn’t mean it’s inherently safe.

The Aging Effects of UV Rays

Being the largest and most visible organ of the body and heavily influenced by environmental factors, skin is ideal to study the long-term effects of aging. Throughout our lifetime, we accumulate damage generated by UV radiation. UV causes inflammation, immune changes, physical changes, impaired wound healing and DNA damage that promotes cellular senescence and carcinogenesis. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer and among the malignancies of highest increasing incidence over the last several decades. Melanoma incidence is directly related to age, with highest rates in individuals over the age of 55 years, making it a clear age-related disease. In this review, we will focus on UV-induced carcinogenesis and photo aging along with natural protective mechanisms that reduce amount of “realized” solar radiation dose and UV-induced injury. We will focus on the theoretical use of forskolin, a plant-derived pharmacologically active compound to protect the skin against UV injury and prevent aging symptoms by up-regulating melanin production. We will discuss its use as a topically-applied root-derived formulation of the Plectranthus barbatus (Coleus forskolii) plant that grows naturally in Asia and that has long been used in various Aryuvedic teas and therapeutic preparations.

Keywords: forskolin, aging, UV radiation, skin, oxidative stress

1. Introduction

Due to its anatomic location at the external boundary of the body, skin is exposed to a variety of environmental factors such as UV radiation that derives naturally from the sun. Solar UV exposure is a major causative factor for age-related changes such as skin cancer development. UV radiation is composed of UVA, UVB and UVC components based on photon wavelength with UVA having the longest wavelengths (315–400 nm), UVB being mid-range (290–320 nm) and UVC being the shortest wavelengths (100–280 nm). Ambient sunlight is composed primarily of UVA (90%–95%) and UVB (5%–10%) energy, with most solar UVC absorbed by the ozone layer (Figure 1).
